The chart shows the extent程度to which young people aged between 18 and 29 in
the United States show interest in six categories of news, namely即, the environment and natural disasters, social
issues, international affairs, entertainment and celebrities, schools and
education, and art and culture. The more popular news categories are the
environment and natural disasters (69%), social issues (64%), whereas the less
popular ones are art and culture (30%) and schools and education (49%). The remaining其餘的 two categories, namely, international affairs
(59%) and entertainment and celebrities (58%) are in the middle.
Of the six categories, I am more interested in
social issues because of their importance; and they have a huge impact on the
well-being of society. Housing is a very obvious明顯的example. As I would like to purchase購買 an apartment in the future, I always follow news
about housing supply, housing prices, and what the government has been doing to
increase the former前者 and keep the latter後者 at reasonable levels. When housing prices seem to
have soared驟升 in recent years, I am legitimately合理地 concerned關心 and would like to see timely即時government
intervention干預. Moreover, some social issues might be controversial議題. It is essential for everyone in society to feel
free to express their views. Only through藉由 this can there be hope that the controversies
involved can be addressed處理. I am less interested in art and culture as it
has never appealed to吸引 me. I find it neither practical務實的 nor interesting. Although it might have its place
in society, I prefer to focus on social issues for their significant重大的 impact影響 on society.
