　　　Some years ago, I went on a trip to Tokyo and had the unforgettable experience of lining up for an hour or so outside a hugely popular sushi restaurant. The place was listed in all travel guides and all my friends recommended推薦 it to me before the trip. I did get up early in the morning, hoping to get there before the crowds. However, my plan did not work at all. When I arrived around 8 am, there was a long line – some 50 people – and everyone seemed to be content to wait樂於等待. The line moved extremely slowly as the restaurant could accommodate容納 only 12 passengers at a time. When I was finally seated, I was presented with an omakase menu, which basically meant leaving it to the chef to select my dishes. Fortunately, dining experience turned out to be pleasant – the chef was bubbly熱情的 and welcoming好客的, and the sushi was scrumptious美味的 and value for money. When I left, there was still a long line.

　　　Some people might not like the idea of waiting in line as they consider it an unnecessary waste of precious寶貴的 time. There is some truth to it; who would look forward to being among strangers in a line, particularly when it is sweltering極熱的 or freezing cold? That said, there does not seem to be better alternatives選擇. An online booking system might be touted as a solution, but is it?  Most of us might end up failing to無法 (secure獲得/book/obtain/get) a place.  If we are allowed to wait in line, we will be assured that our efforts will be rewarded回報.  In the case of the line outside a restaurant, I can see additional merit優點 – it is a good indicator指標 of popularity受歡迎程度. Such information comes in handy派上用場 when I travel abroad and am at a loss as to where to eat.

Of the six categories, I am more interested in social issues because of their importance; and they have a huge impact on the well-being of society. Housing is a very obvious明顯的example. As I would like to purchase購買 an apartment in the future, I always follow news about housing supply, housing prices, and what the government has been doing to increase the former前者 and keep the latter後者 at reasonable levels. When housing prices seem to have soared驟升 in recent years, I am legitimately合理地 concerned關心 and would like to see timely即時government intervention干預. Moreover, some social issues might be controversial議題. It is essential for everyone in society to feel free to express their views. Only through藉由 this can there be hope that the controversies involved can be addressed處理. I am less interested in art and culture as it has never appealed to吸引 me. I find it neither practical務實的 nor interesting. Although it might have its place in society, I prefer to focus on social issues for their significant重大的 impact影響 on society.

By four in the afternoon, the crowds had thinned out變少, with most of the customers content and gone with the best bargains.
