Walkathon Fund Raising

Your school is holding a walkathon. The money raised will be donated to a charity, Walk to Build, that helps build schools in the rural areas. You are writing an information poster which includes three sections – why take part, the route of the walk, and the work of Walk to Build – to promote the event and encourage participation among students and their families. The poster should be about 250 words.

Why take part?

If you are interested in helping school children in the rural areas, why don’t you join us in the walkathon to be held on April 20 (Sunday morning)? For just an entrance fee of TW$400, you will make a difference in the lives of these school children. They will be able to receive quality education in well-equipped schools. All the proceeds will go to Walk to Build, a charity committed to building schools in the rural areas. The event is also a good opportunity for you to learn more about the charity and its work, and to get involved in other activities of the charity.

The route of the walk

This year’s walkathon will be held in the rural areas of Hualian, a scenic spot far from the urban areas. The walk begins at 10 am and ends at 12:30 am. Volunteers will be on site to provide participants with necessary directions and assistance. The route is suitable for participants of all ages. You will scan this QR code for more details of the route.

The work of Walk to Build

Walk to Build is a charity committed to building schools in the rural areas. It was set up in 2013 by a group of retired teachers who were acutely aware of the educational needs of school children in those areas. Over the past ten years, 12 schools have been built, serving nearly 500 students. According to its current five-year plan, five schools are planned to be built and the charity needs to raise more money for these worthwhile projects. Apart from organizing a walkathon each year, the charity reaches out to people from all walks of life for volunteering. They are most welcome to teach the students on a part-time basis or just spend a Saturday morning with them.
